On September 5, 2024, EDF-Myanmar held a donation ceremony for the construction of an advanced toilet at Htein Nan Pin Basic Education Secondary School in Than Ta Pin Township, Yangon Region, Myanmar.

During a visit to the school in 2023, the school principal raised concerns about the difficulties students faced in accessing proper sanitation facilities. In response, EDF-Myanmar Managing Director U Zin Zaw Zaw Maung connected with officials from EDF-Japan to secure a donor. After conducting in-school assessments, EDF-Myanmar began the project to build the new advanced toilet.

The donation ceremony was attended by the Township Education Director, District Administrator, School Committee Members, local residents, teachers, and students, all of whom honored the occasion. U Zin Zaw Zaw Maung provided an explanation of the new toilet’s construction during the event, and the principal expressed deep gratitude to the Japanese donors and EDF-Myanmar officials for their support.

The event culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by U Zin Zaw Zaw Maung, the Headmistress, and other officials. Students and officials celebrated the successful completion of the project by touring the new facilities and capturing memorable photos.

This new advanced toilet will significantly improve the sanitation and hygiene conditions for students at Htein Nan Pin Basic Education Secondary School, enhancing their overall learning environment. Thank you, EDF-Myanmar, for making a meaningful difference!
