In Thailand, there is a well-known saying: “Children are the future of the nation; if the children are intelligent, the country will be prosperous.” Wan Dek, or Thai National Children's Day, is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating children. It is observed annually on the second Saturday of January, and this year it falls on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
 

Most schools in Thailand hold Children's Day events a day early, on Friday, January 10, 2025, to ensure students can fully participate. These school events are filled with joy and excitement, featuring activities like games, dancing, lucky draws for gifts, and a special lunch complete with sweets and juices. On this day, students are allowed to wear casual clothes and enjoy a break from regular classroom studies, creating a festive and relaxed atmosphere.

On Children's Day itself, Thai parents celebrate by taking their children out for fun activities. Many places, from local attractions to national landmarks, organize special events to mark the occasion. Zoos, museums, military bases (Army, Navy, and Air Force), Government House, Parliament House, TV stations, as well as shopping centers and restaurants, open their doors with discounted or even free entry for children. These activities make Children's Day a memorable and cherished event for families across the nation.
